Valentines 2009

How’s your valentines day? I was this close |-| to spending it in the office. Luckily with some negotiations and arrangements, I was released for a full day yesterday but with the condition that I need to check in today. So here I am, sitting in the office while waiting for some testing to be done after a whole day of tweaking this and that.

Valentines is like any other ordinary paktor day, just that places that normal couple go, things that normal couple buy, and meals that normal couple eat will be a few times more crowded and expensive than normal day.

Mine was spent watching the “I was born under unusual circumstances” Benjamin Button which I think was nice and certainly worth a watch.

Went to Yoko @ Changkat Bukit Bintang for dinner.

It’s a Japanese restaurant and bar which serves ordinary Japanese dishes like this

To special cold green tea noodle with ice in them

And here are the sushi:

And this one with a cun name called spider roll, but I couldn’t really find anything spidery from the look of it. Maybe it’s the ingredient

Although the day is so overly commercialized, although everywhere is slightly more crowded, and things are slightly more expensive, but those effort and price are not paid for nothing aren’t they?

Ps: written on Sunday night, posted on Monday morning

I’m baccckkkkkk!!!

I know I’m late. I know I have been missing in action for sooo long. And I know I’ve not been blog-hopping for ages.

I’m slowly gaining momentum after the long lazy relaxing holiday and will be back shortly. I mean very shortly, once I’m 100% back on track. Stay tune!!!

Hi everyone, Sawadee kap. Today we are going to make eat an appetizer from Thailand called Mieng Kham. Please repeat after me, Mieeeeng Khammmmm. Good.

Now Mieng Kham is actually a good to eat and fun to make appetizer which is best served before the main course. Just like the Chinese ‘Lou Sang’ it’s happier to Lou and eat together with friends during special occasion.

Now we need to prepare the ingredients first:

As you can see, we will need some Betel leaves which is also known as Piper Sarmentosum. If you do not know how to get those, just use lettuce leaves. Other than that, we also need some peanuts, dried shrimps, onions, chilies and cucumber. A little bit of sliced lemon would be nice J. And also don’t forget the sauce which is so essential to make Mieng Kham tastes sweet, sour and a little bit of spicy

Ok these are some basic steps that you need to do to enjoy Mieng Kham.  First, fold a Betel leaf

Then, hold it like this in one hand

Then pick up a spoon with another hand and start filling the leaf with everything as much as possible.

Ooo, I do look this serious when I’m concentrating, kakaka…

When the leaf is almost filled up with everything, it’s time to pour the sauce on top of it. The more sauce you put in, the juicier it gets :)

And now, Mieng Kham is ready for eating. Yum yumm… it’s so easy

That’s all for today, thank you for watching. Kop Khun Kha

I better be fast before everyone floods Facebook with their photos.

I went to my company’s annual dinner in One World hotel yesterday and the theme was Wild Wild West.

And because of the same reason, One World was flooded with cowboys and red Indians and if anyone happened to get near to the function room, they will probably go “WTF is happening in this hotel!!”

The two team leads in action

But I didn’t have much of a cowboy look at that night

The hotel and everything else were great.

But the most disappointing part which was also the most important part, aside from my migraine was the food!

It was so disappointing until I do not wish to snap any of them anymore after this

And I left early that night, skipping the dance and the bye-bye-and-snap-a-lot-more-photos part because of my migraine which almost got me killed. Yes it’s that bad and I thought I wouldn’t wake up this morning.

Anyway, I had fun getting together with everyone and seeing all the creative and out of ordinary cowboy’s style around.

Now waiting for more photos from my colleagues!

This is going to be a long boring post but before that, happy new year everyone! And sorry for being 5 days late as I was a little bit occupied with everything lately :p

So how’s New Year ’s Eve everyone?

Ok New Year eve is just too outdated after 5 days and I think I should just focus on resolution. In the year of 2009, my resolution is simple but yet, hard to achieve which is:

To be happy :D

Now being absolutely definitely happy all the time is an impossible goal to achieve. True happiness is only attainable when the point of balance is reached. Yes, I think it’s all about striking the balance point and maintaining it, like how KiaHooi did her tree pose:

I mean, one can have all the wealth in the world, but won’t be happy because he got no one to spend it with. But he will certainly be a lot happier if he has his family and friends to share the moments, that kind of balance I was talking about. So rather than concentrating and spending all the efforts and time on just one of the fragment which made up Life, I will try and be fair to all the other fragments as well.

And no, it’s not like I’m having all the wealth in the world right now, I’m actually far from even seeing the word ‘rich’ and still struggling to get hold of ‘average’. So what I’m going to do in 2009 is, I’m going to work hard. I won’t mind to work like a slave everyday. It’s a fact that work has already taken up a big fragment of everyone’s life, so it’s reasonable to spend more effort to take care of this big chunk of my life.

But to maintain the balance, I will play equally as hard after work.

As they said, sweetness tastes better only when you have tasted bitterness. Or something like that :p

And besides working and playing, I would like to spend more time with my Family.

Yes I realized that I don’t really spend enough quality time with them, so it’s one of the things that I must do as Family is the most important fragment in Life

Relationship makes up a big chunk of Life too, and I wish that I can spend all the joy and battle all the hurdles together with her.

And Friends, significant people who will be around but sometimes, forgotten because of other priorities. It’s hard to treat each and everyone of you as the best equally but it’s possible to treat you guys as important.

Again, Happy 2009 everyone :D

Ps: Thanks KiaHooi for the prompt response of getting me the stunning tree pose :D

Christmas is over,

Mine was fun,

How’s yours?

LifeIsALoop @ Singapore

It’s blogging time again! Yes I’m now writing this in the office at 8.30pm, and it’s a Saturday! Isn’t working fun? Hooray! And I think I won’t write anything about my work anymore, I mean negative things because I suspect someone took it seriously when I wrote about this. So on second thought, I think it’s not a good idea to do that anymore. Hmm…

Anyway, I’m in Singapore now for business:

Whoa, sounds so professional but the reason why I’m here is because I’m cheap! Yes it’s a lot cheaper to send me here than to hire someone in Singapore because of the exchange rate. Oops, I think I should stop, this is negative.

But there is a little bit different this time because I’m no longer staying in Summerdale because of this. So I’m now staying in a hotel in Farrer Park which has a lobby that looks like this:

It’s a pretty nice hotel actually, with a comfy waiting area:

And this is my room:

And the clean toilet with a big mirror

Where I can Do The Karen Cheng like this:

So nice of Karen to invent something like this so that all of us have an excuse to post our own photo up, kakaka…

To everyone, just in case I don’t have the chance to write again before Christmas, this is something from me:

Jingle bell~~ yah, caught this in front of the hotel. Merry Christmas everyone! :D

A Balanced Life

Hello everyone,

I’ve been working so hard lately, and that’s also one of the reasons why I don’t blog as much as I did last time. Shit how come this sounds so familiar? I guess I’d given this excuse before last time, just that I couldn’t remember when. Arrgghh I know I should be a little more creative and come up with something better, at least something different, but my work has squeezed a fairly amount of creativity juice out of my brain. It has also used up fairly amount of my time and patience, and got on fairly amount of my nerves.

And there were times when I was also the only person left in the office, risking my life and got myself exposed to ‘you-know-what’ which people always says, exists in office. Haha but I’m a skeptic so those things won’t bother me much even though if they really exist, I learnt this from The Skeleton Key. Anyway I don’t even have time for them. Maybe I’ll just shout “Come back another time will you? Just let me work”. Kakaka, ok I was just kidding :p

Living a balanced life is what we should do, so I’ll try to spend time doing anything else but work when I’m out of the office. And I starting to feel that it’s a good idea to spend a little more on meals, or eat something nice just to treat myself better whenever I have the chance to.

The tired me looking at the menu:

Catch of the Day:

The chicken version of Catch of the Day which I’ve forgotten the name :D

Or something simple but deliciously yummy like Ah Loy curry noodle:

Ok now I’m balanced :D

Ps: the above post is a little bit exaggerated for my writing pleasure. I’m actually, fine :D .

Pps: to colleagues who happen to read this, don’t take this sooo seriously and send email to whoever it may concern and cc the whole world saying that I’m so overworked.

Senjyu Sushi is another Sakae restaurant

Which serves better sushi, at least better than Sakae Sushi

In a “bottled” environment

It was my light dinner beause I only ate sushi

And my miso soup

It has been some time since I did my makan post. And this is me posing with the noodle by the noodle specialist

And the noodle was just… tada~ wan tan mee:

This somehow reminds me of the movie God of Cookery by Chow Sing Chi because the last dish that he prepared was just a simple cha siew fried rice which he claimed to be the best food that he had ever tasted.

Anyway~ ordered some side dishes, this is fried prawn with salad cream. Sorry I think they have a better name for this but I just forgot what it’s called haha :D

And ginseng chicken soup

The restaurant is nicely decorated, but the food was just so-so. Nothing out of the very ordinary.
