Yes I’m back from Singapore and it has already been a few days. And to answer the question on how’s my life there, well there isn’t much difference working in Singapore compared with KL. How much difference could it be since both of the countries are just separated by just a little bit of water between them? But anyway, the observant me did notice a little tiny bit of dissimilarity or uniqueness, which may identify Malaysian from Singaporean.
The Stance
I noticed that most Singaporean can stand firmly in a moving MRT from one station to another without holding anything for balance. I’d seen someone standing while reading newspaper for the whole half an hour journey without holding anything but his newspaper! So the next time if you see someone who can do that, it’s either you are looking at a Singaporean or you are looking at someone from Shaolin
The Gadgets
It’s a norm to see people holding PSP while they are waiting for… almost everything. And a few examples of everything here are basically like, waiting for MRT, waiting for food in a restaurant, waiting for lift, waiting for… you get the idea. And it’s a norm to see people having their ears plugged with earphones while they are waiting for almost everything and not playing with their PSP
The Food
Well I’m absolutely not choosy when it comes to food although I do not have any preferences because to me, it’s either good, ok, or bad food. But having lunch at Singapore gave me some kind of hungry-people-is-everywhere impression because everywhere is so crowded with people. And if you think that someone must be selling good food because they have a lot of customers, you could be wrong!
The ‘tissue’ courtesy
If you see tissue packets on a table or chair at food court, it means the seats there are occupied. Yes, to them it means “These seats are taken and the owners are out to hunt for food”. Try to do that in Malaysia and it means “Oh, this food court has good services. They provide tissue papers!”
The patience of pedestrian
It’s kinda weird to stand by the road side, waiting for the light to go green before I can cross the road. Well I can understand that if the traffic is heavy but what if it’s not? What if there isn’t even a single car on the road but still, I need to wait for my turn just to walk across the road? Try to do that at KL (when the street is empty) and people might think that either you are lost, or you attempt to commit suicide.

only ur tissue observation is correct lor!! in KL ppl cross the road when it’s empty, and also when it’s buzzing with traffic! as for the psp.. maybe.. n the food thingy is fairly correct la in a way… but in general i’ve only had good food once or twice in sg… sad case
