After reading “6 commonly believed things that are wrong” I realized that human beings are really dumb in determining the right from wrong or the truth from lies. Well this doesn’t mean that I already know those 6 things before this but after reading it, I found out that we have 2 big common weaknesses, we like to deceive and furthermore, we love to believe.
Having someone to tell you that there is a lion on the street will make you laugh but having the second person to tell you the same will make you curious. When the third person tells you the same, you started to doubt your mind and before the fourth person finishes what he saw on the street, the lion is the only single thing on your mind
Back to the year 1999 in US, there was a case where a middle-aged man who had evacuated the whole shopping mall completely by just telling everyone that there was a bomb planted somewhere in the mall. But the interesting part was, no one is able to recognize that man and no one can do anything about it after that
Another interesting case happened in Italy where suddenly everyone was telling each other that the government had enforced a large scale curfew in the whole country where everyone was not allowed to go out after 6 pm on the following Sunday. Rome, which is the capital of Italy, was so dead on that day until the government demanded a full tv broadcast in the whole country to explain that there was no such thing and the curfew was a hoax.
If you think these two news are not convincing enough to reveal the dumbness of human being to tell the truth from lies, there is another news which happened recently. On the year 2004 when the police department of one of the city in Australia received a call that 3 major banks in the city was robbed, no one did anything on that day and action was only carried out on the next day because everyone thought that it was a joke. How pathetic
Finally, and the most important part of this blog. All the news above regarding the man in the shopping mall, the curfew in Italy and the robbery in Australia are fake. Yes, they are all fake and were made up just for me to make my point. Sorry guys, told ya. We like to deceive, and in the same time, we love to believe
